1. Maintain a Healthy Weight- A lot of gout patients have one thing in common- they are overweight. Being overweight can cause many problems within the body: gout is one of them. Staying in a healthy weight range for your age and height can quickly help you get on track to living gout free.
  2. Stop Drinking Beer- While beer may be your drink of choice at parties, special events, and even while watching your weekly sports on television, you have to weigh what is more important in your life – a beer or not suffering from gout? An occasional beer won’t usually hurt you but having beer as a regular staple in your life can quickly increase your uric acid which causes gout.
  3. Eliminate or reduce Certain Foods- Consuming foods such as red meats, seafood, and beans on a regular basis can attribute to your gout issue. Limiting them and replacing them with chicken, fresh vegetables and fruits can start a new gout free lifestyle. Replacing a lot of daily calories from soft drinks with water or natural teas can also help you combat your gout.
  4. Maintain Healthy Kidneys- If you already have a kidney illness, then perhaps your doctor has already made you aware of the risks of developing gout in the future. The two go hand in hand- gout and kidney function. Have your medical provider check your kidneys for healthy function by doing a series a lab tests to possibly find a cause for your gout.
